Our Story

Kairos Academy was created from my desire as a public school teacher to see a change in my educational career, and a change in the way students are educated. I didn't want to leave education, but I desired something different and more meaningful. Education can be fun, explorative, and individualized. Kairos Academy was created to give families in Southern Indiana the opportunity to explore these other options in a safe, faith-based environment.

A microschool is an amazing mix between homeschooling and a private school. Your child will get a high-quality education surrounded by peers without all of the nonessential parts of a traditional school. With a microschool, your child will be taught in a small group or individual setting using standards-based curricula, while still having fun and enjoying learning again.

Who We Are

Hello! I am Sarah Horn, and I am a licensed elementary teacher with a background in private and public education, as well as a personal background with homeschooling and hybrid schooling. I have always had a passion for education and for children. My heart is to educate children in my home- instilling biblical values while also giving them a quality education in a small group, one room schoolhouse setting.

I am the wife of a children's pastor, as well as a mom of 2 preschoolers. My background as a children's pastor's wife has given me a fantastic advantage to biblical education as well as countless experiences with diverse children and their needs outside of my teaching career.

As a child, I grew up in a Christian school. Overall, I had a good educational experience, but the Lord led us to homeschool when I was finishing my freshman year of high school. Being a part of a homeschooling family really opened up my eyes to the joys and positive outcomes that a good homeschooling experience can bring. I finished high school in a hybrid school setting that showed me how rigorous and empowering hybrid learning can bring to older students.

I started my teaching career when we moved to Southern Indiana, and I taught at a Christian school. I taught there for 3 years and learned a lot. This gave me a fantastic base for the rest of my career. I eventually landed at a public elementary school teaching for 4 more years. Teaching at a public school gave me the experiences that only working at a public school can bring. However, teaching at a public school only fueled my passion for this new adventure even more.

I am so excited use my strengths and all that I have learned to guide me on this new journey.
